We're Hiring! Development Researcher/Trainee
Location: London, W12
Duration: 6 months with potential for extension
Start date: ASAP but flexible for the right candidate
The Connected Set is looking to recruit a TV development researcher or trainee with potential to come and work in our busy office based on Wood Lane, London. This position is open to existing researchers with TV experience, or in the case of trainees open to recent graduates or career switchers with a demonstrable interest and skillset for the job.
We are looking for a person who is passionate about factual and entertaining television shows and shortform content, as your job will be to work with the development team to devise the next big hit show. You will need to love creative thinking and using your imagination, as well as being curious about the world. You should be someone who watches and reads a lot, and is plugged into popular culture.
You will need to be great at communicating your ideas in meetings to colleagues, with contributors, and in written form. You will need to back up your ideas with solid research, journalistic rigour, analytical skills and attention to detail. Your written work must be clear, concise, well formatted and without spelling and grammar errors. You must be happy to critique your own ideas and those of others, and receive and act upon constructive feedback from colleagues and commissioners. This is demanding job where you will need to able to work quickly both independently and as part of a team depending on the project. Solid time management skills is a must as you will have to juggle several tasks and channel briefs at once.
This is a job for someone who is passionate about coming up with ideas for shows and then exploring their viability. This is not a stop-gap job or a job someone trying to recover from a tough production – this is a demanding and fast-paced job and we need the type of person who gets stuff done, and keeps smiling while they do it!
The above attributes will be thoroughly tested as part of the recruitment process.
- An excellent communicator in written and verbal pitches.
- Highly proficient on Powerpoint and Word.
- High attention to detail (spelling, grammar and presentation).
- Strong journalistic research skills
- Able to work fast, efficiently, and in an organised way
- An excellent phone manner and ability to speak to and get on with anybody
- Pitch design skills (eg. InDesign)
