The proprietary connected TV service from Europe’s leading television manufacturer.  Supports third party apps and has achieved 2 million app downloads to date.

Pricing: Some free apps, some pay, + cost of hardware.
Services: TV tuner with separate app environment (no broadcast overlay at present)
Confirmed content providers: Comes with apps for BBC iPlayer, YouTube, LoveFilm, Skype, Twitter, Betfait, Muzu.tv (music videos on demand) and many more.  Samsung TV’s can store around 70 apps on its hard drive at any one time.
Demographics: Leading TV manufacturer in Europe (25% market share).  Targeting 1.5million Samsung connected TVs in UK by March 2011.
Developer information: Very open to 3rd party apps but very protracted approval process (averages 3-4 months at present).  Commercial rev share model. Flash Lite 3.1. Supports a wide range of video formats.  Distinct separation of app and TV environment may make finding an audience for apps tough.
